The OM5 LC to LC multimode duplex fiber optic cable facilitates connectivity on 40G and 100G networks. It supports SWDM (Shortwave Length Division Multiplexing) over an extended wavelength range of 850 to 953 nm with VCSEL, improving signal quality and performance capacity compared to OM4.
Designed for Optimal Performance
Precision-manufactured ceramic ferrules ensure proper fiber alignment to prevent connectivity issues and minimize insertion loss. Designed for reliability in high-density network applications, the LC-to-LC UPC polished fiber ends significantly improve return loss characteristics compared to older PC polishing techniques. The OM5 Laser Optimized Fiber Multimode (LOMMF) cable is ideal for 850–953 nm Vertical Cavity Emitting Surface Lasers (VCSELs) and 1300 nm LED sources.
Compatibility
This 50/125 µm multimode fiber optic cable is backward compatible with OM4 and OM3 10G networks, ensuring a reliable connection in legacy fiber environments.
LSZH Cable Sheath
Housed in a flame-retardant LSZH (Low-Smoke, Zero-Halogen) sheath, the OM5 fiber optic cable emits minimal smoke and toxic gases when exposed to extreme heat or in the event of a fire. This enables safer cable installations in poorly ventilated areas, including certain industrial environments, self-contained environments such as trains and aircraft, and residential settings where building code compliance is a concern.
Each OM5 fiber optic cable is also individually tested for insertion loss performance that meets or exceeds the TIA/EIA-568 industry standard, ensuring 100% compatibility and reliability.
